Greetings from England! Wow! What a past few days these have been! We were so blessed by a group of friends sending us off from Texas with lots of hugs and some tears too! The flight was pretty good but not much sleep so we went without much sleep the first day here in England. Once we landed we got a taxi van to take us about 70 miles to Mildenhall! We had a nice time getting to know our taxi driver and getting helpful hints from him on how to drive here in the UK. His advice "if it feels wrong, it's right!" LOL! Good advice I think! When we arrived here on base we checked into our room at the lodge and met our sponsor, he brought us some snacks and told us to relax and that we get up later in the weekend. We decided to wander around base a little and found out that they really are here in little America with dining options like Pizzahut, Burger King and Taco Bell, & STARBUCKS (though they have fairly limited hours and have yet to make it there when they are open, yet!). We took a look in at the commissary and the BX, they have lots to offer, not the biggest commissary or BX but I think we'll survive! Saturday we did some online house and car hunting... Then we went for a walk and found the Auto Resale Lot here on base and found some options that we might look into once we get our drivers licenses. Sunday we woke up and headed to chapel here on base, it was a very large service and had great music and an encouraging sermon to remember that when we pray we come before the throne of the King of Kings and not to doubt His providence or His goodness! Afterward we decided to go for another walk... we went off base to check out some of the houses we had seen online and the neighborhoods right near the base. We had a fun time walking around and surprisingly it was HOT and SUNNY outside =D While we were out we also had a very British sounding lady ask us directions to the "shops," we had no clue what she was asking but there had been a little convenience store up the road and that's what she was asking about... She found it and we saw her again on her way back and she spoke with us again and she told us she had just moved into that neighborhood. Anyway, it was funny to have her ask us directions... We told her we just moved here too! =) Here are a few pictures of our time out walking:

Perhaps this house will be the one?
Or maybe this one?
Hey what about this one? It's right next to a farm field =)
Sarah started out with a long sleeve shirt and a vest but the weather turned very warm!
Thankfully she had her trusty sunglasses!
Well folks, that's all for now! More photos coming soon of all the interesting things we have been experiencing around these new parts =)

ReplyDeleteI don't know why it says "this comment has been removed by the author." Anyhoo, I love all of these photos! Holly's puppies (our ticket to England) seem to be coming along just fine, if feeling her expanding belly is any indication.
