Another week, full of adventure, here in glorious Great Britain! We are really enjoying the freedom of having our truck to drive and roam about in and we made it to several tourist spots this past week. On Saturday we went to Newmarket which is just a short distance away, about 10 miles from Mildenhall. Newmarket is famous for it's horse racing, and there are many street signs that tell you to "give way to race horses."
We had a great time at the races, we didn't win anything (but we didn't lose anything either ;-) We just had a good time being together in the beautiful outdoors and admiring the amazing agility and speed of horses. Sarah had fun guessing which horse would win and good thing we didn't bet anything on those hunches because she only guessed correctly once out of six races!

For the most part it was a beautiful, nice, sunny day on Saturday! The races started at 2pm and finished up at 6pm, it started to cool down by that point and Sarah was glad she had her scarf and Edmund, sitting next to her side, to help keep her warm =D
Don't let the crowds distract you from the beautiful English countryside in the background!
What fun! You are really having some beautiful weather there! Does it cost anything to go in to just watch?
ReplyDeleteThe weather is very fickle here, it can't decide what it likes to be so it changes every few hours or so. When we went to the horse-races it was a beautiful sunny and 70 for the most part! Unfortunately, it does cost money to just go in and watch, there is a family section that was slightly cheaper but it's mainly just a picnic area (i.e. you bring your own chair/blanket). We decided to purchase tickets for the Grandstand/Paddock area and the tickets were 16 GBP each which is approx. 27 USD... So it was a little pricey! But everything here is really pricey! We have had several people tell us to just not do the conversion in your head when you are out on the town but it's really hard not to think of what it is costing you in USDs!
